Yup...that's me.
Sometimes a teacher, always a student.
Music is a language with a 12-note alphabet. You learn the basics and then you start speaking.
Sometimes, however, we can get so wrapped up in the rules of grammar (technique) that we become limited in how we can use our instruments to say something.
I was no different.
In 1985, I put my bass in its case and left it there for 20 years. I felt I had nothing more to say through that instrument. I moved on to piano and guitar, thinking that it was the instrument, not the musician, that forged the music.
I eventually realized I was deaf when it came time to hearing there was more to the instrument than walking bass lines.
I teach to share my passion for music. My goal is simply to make you a better musician. Your bass is the tool we’ll use to get you started.
Oh yeah, one more thing. If you want to become lick meister, TAB guru, or your ultimate aspiration is to spend your afternoon at Guitar Center playing “Smoke on the Water” for the adoring sales clerks, then I’m not the teacher for you. Save your money and go to YouTube.
If you want to learn how to really groove with your bass, give me a call. If you’re so inclined, you can also track me down on Facebook and Twitter.
